Find pages that are seen on Google but not clicked
Find pages with many impressions but a low click rate for their position in Search Console, and fix their titles and descriptions to get more clicks.
A page that appears often in Google but gets few clicks for its position usually has a title or description that doesn't make people want to click. Find these pages in Search Console's Performance report, compare each one's click rate with your other pages at a similar position, and rewrite its title and description.
Why compare with your own pages
Click rates depend heavily on position: the first result gets far more clicks than the eighth. So compare a page only with your own pages at about the same position, not with a general "good CTR" number you read somewhere.
Find them
Search Console → Performance → Search results, last 3 months, with all four numbers ticked.
Open the Pages tab and sort by Impressions.
Look at pages with many impressions. For pages with a similar Average position, compare their CTR. The ones well below their neighbours are your candidates.
Fix them
- Check what people searched. Click the page, then Queries. Does your title match those searches?
- Rewrite the title. Lead with what the searcher wants, in their words. Keep it under about 60 characters so it isn't cut off.
- Rewrite the description. One or two sentences that answer the search and give a reason to click. Google may still choose its own snippet, but a good one is used often.
- Wait and compare. Give it two to four weeks, then compare CTR before and after.
When a low click rate is fine
- The search wants a quick answer that Google shows directly.
- The search isn't really about your page (your page ranks by accident).
- Big brands or ads take most clicks above you.

Your name vs new people
