What SimpleDash can see in your Google account
SimpleDash asks Google only for read-only access to Google Analytics. What it can and can't see, why Google calls it sensitive, and how to remove it.
SimpleDash asks Google for one permission: read-only access to Google Analytics. It can read the reports GA4 already has, and it can't change, add or delete anything in your Google account.
The exact permission
When you sign in, Google asks you to allow:
| Permission | What it allows | When it's asked |
|---|---|---|
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/analytics.readonly | Read your Google Analytics reports and settings | When you sign in |
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/webmasters.readonly | Read your Search Console data | Only if you connect Search Console (Pro) |
Google also shares your name, email address and profile picture, so we can create your account. Nothing else.
What SimpleDash can't do
- Change any GA4 setting, add users or delete data.
- Read your Gmail, Drive, Calendar or any other Google service.
- See individual visitors. GA4's reports are totals ("120 visitors from Google"), and that is all SimpleDash asks for.
Why does Google call it "sensitive"?
Google labels access to Analytics data as a sensitive permission, because analytics data belongs to your business. It isn't a warning about SimpleDash in particular: every app that reads GA4 asks for the same permission. Google checks such apps before they can be used by everyone.
What we store
We keep the Google access token, encrypted, so the dashboard can fetch fresh numbers without asking you to sign in again. We also keep short-lived copies of report totals, so pages open fast. Never anything about individual visitors. The full list is in Data and security.
How to remove access
You can end SimpleDash's access at any time, in either place:
- In SimpleDash: Settings → Profile → Disconnect Google. This revokes the token at Google and signs you out. Your settings and notes stay, so signing in again restores everything.
- In your Google account: go to myaccount.google.com/connections, choose SimpleDash and remove its access.
To delete everything instead, see Disconnect Google or delete your account.
